Privacy Policy

Calcucal AI ("we", "our", or "the App") is a calorie tracking application that uses AI-powered image recognition to analyze food and estimate nutritional information. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your data.

Camera & Food Images

When you scan food, the image is sent to our server for AI analysis. Images are processed in real-time and are not stored on our servers after analysis is complete.

Calcucal Account Data

After you sign in, meal history, calorie and macro values, goals, allergens, preferences, and profile settings are stored in your Calcucal account so they can sync between the mobile app and the ChatGPT app.

Health Data (Apple HealthKit)

With your permission, the App reads and writes calorie and macronutrient data to Apple HealthKit. HealthKit is used as a native Apple Health mirror/import layer. Calcucal does not store Apple Health credentials, and HealthKit access remains controlled by your device permissions.

User Profile

Profile information you enter during onboarding (age, sex, height, weight) is used to calculate personalized calorie goals. It is saved locally before sign-in and syncs to your Calcucal account after sign-in.

Analytics

We use Firebase Analytics to collect anonymized usage data such as screen views, feature usage, and app stability metrics. This data does not include personal information and is used solely to improve the App. We do not use advertising identifiers (IDFA) or track users across apps.

Subscription Data

Subscription purchases are managed by Apple and RevenueCat. We receive anonymized purchase status information to unlock Pro features. We do not have access to your payment details.

We do not sell, share, or transfer your personal data to third parties for advertising or marketing purposes. Data is only shared with:

• OpenAI — Food images are sent for AI analysis (processed in real-time, not stored)
• RevenueCat — Anonymized subscription management
• Firebase (Google) — Anonymized analytics

Food images are not retained after analysis. Meal history and profile data are retained in your Calcucal account while the account is active. Local device and HealthKit data can be removed from your device or Apple Health.

You can delete local app data by uninstalling the App. To request deletion of your Calcucal account data or analytics data associated with your device, contact us at the email below.

The App is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date.
